TANDEM LTD – BUY MADE IN UKRAINE PRODUCTION
– Tandem Ltd is nowadays among the leaders of the packaging industry. How have you achieved it, what measures have been taken in order to gain this position on the domestic market? Which industry sectors are mainly using your products?
– Tandem Ltd, which is acting under the «Kievpolypak’S» trademark was since the very beginning oriented towards taking the lead position in the Ukrainian polypropylene packaging sector. Having this exact intention in mind, we were buying the most modern equipment at that time from the Austrian company «Starlinger», selecting and forming a team of associates, conducting in-depth research. All this together plus constant hard work of the entire team brought us to the place we are in today.
Among our most active customers I could name the compound feed producers. Those are the main consumers of box-type bags of the AD*Star type. At the customer’s request, those bags could vary: they can be open or valve, perforated, or, on the contrary, moisture-protected. In addition, the bags can be in different colors and have colored flexographic printing on them.
A great number of orders come from manufacturers of dry building mixtures. On great demand are covering foils for hydro isolating buildings and premises or creating a vapor-free protective layer when internally insulating heat in outer walls. We implement all the sales through the Epicenter chain of building supermarkets. Agrarians gladly purchase our landscape fabric, which is used for protecting crops and preserving moisture in the soil.
In addition, we produce mash bags that are the most convenient for packing fruit and vegetables, and soft “big bag” containers for large-capacity transportation of loose cargo. For the building industry needs, we have mastered the production of polypropylene fabrics and laminated cloths, which have excellent exploitation properties, are UV resistant, fragrant (due to surface microperforation), water- and vapor proof, elastic but durable at the same time. A relatively new activity lies within the production of railcar liners and liner bags.
As you can see, the range of our products is quite wide. Therefore, we always invite potential customers to cooperate with us. You will be pleasantly surprised by our flexible price policy and bonus program.
– Do you have an export policy? Which goods and into which countries do you export? Which challenges do Ukrainian manufacturers face on the foreign market?
– Of course we export our goods. Moreover, we strive to increase the volume of our production and expand the geography of our exporting services. Currently our main external trade partner remains the Republic of Belarus. В даний час нашим основним зовнішньоекономічним партнером є Республіка Білорусь. We export bags of various constructions, agrofabrics and covering foils to this country. At this moment, we are considering a large purchase of railcar liners. While things are mainly running good with Belarus, with other post-Soviet and European countries we are facing some difficulties. First of all, those are connected to the crisis in the world economy, and, consequently, to high competition among polypropylene packaging manufacturers. In the case with European countries, a lack of cooperation and poor understanding of their economic field can be stated. Nevertheless, we are constantly learning and accumulating our knowledge, which will finally lead us to a positive breakthrough in our industry sector.
– In your opinion, to which degree do your products meet the international standards?
– The polypropylene packaging market in Ukraine is filled with cheap imported products of low quality. We can fight this situation only by producing our high-quality goods with the help of modern top-notch “Starlinger” equipment and by the use of primary raw materials only. Our most significant difference from other manufacturers lies within open cooperation with our customers and strict adherence to our commitments.
– Apart from European countries, your company is also interested in Asian and African markets. Can your products “undermine” the competitors within these markets? What is the probability of this happening and what needs to be done for it? How active is the competition of foreign manufacturers?
– For now, our main priority is the European market. As for Asian and African countries, it should be taken into consideration that the local manufacturers with loyal prices and an appropriate quality of the goods are highly active there. Still, it is our future; hopefully, a quite near one.
– What do you think, does the state help Ukrainian enterprises to enter new markets? If yes, how? What measures should be taken at state level for Ukrainian manufacturers to be more comfortable in the current situation?
– That is a most interesting question. On one hand, signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union has in some way opened the European markets to us. On the other hand, many steps must still be taken both at state and manufacturers level in order to achieve those goals. In my opinion, it is of grave importance at this point to protect Ukrainian manufacturers from unfair competition on the local market by some foreign and domestic importers of low-quality goods. In other words, a Ukrainian manufacturer that creates jobs and fills the state budget should have an absolute priority. Here, the state must have its final say. First of all, we are talking here about import customs on foreign goods that are also successfully produced in Ukraine.
Our company’s slogan “Buy Made in Ukraine production” is addressed to all customers of Ukrainian goods, all those who care about the future of our country, children and grandchildren. Buy buying Ukrainian goods, we support our army, teachers, doctors, scientists and retired people.
